Development & Communications Coordinator

OVERVIEW

Housing Solutions seeks motivated professionals who want to use their talents and skills to make a difference. As the lead agency in the HUD-funded Tulsa County Continuum of Care, we coordinate and manage over $3 million annually in federal, state, county, and city funds for programs providing shelter, housing, and services to people experiencing homelessness.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Communications and Development Associate, you will be responsible for a broad range of tasks that support multiple staff members showcasing your strong drive for service. You will also play an important role that requires close collaboration with teams across the organization and will serve as the internal communications and marketing lead. You will work closely with the Leadership Team on fundraising and development, owning the management of partners, and supporting corporate and individual donors. You are an innovative self-starter that possesses impeccable organizational and time management skills. This position will report to the Chief of Staff.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

COMMUNICATIONS (50-60%)

⇒ Develop and implement an integrated, organization-wide strategic communications plan to broaden awareness of and strengthen Housing Solutions’ brand identity across key stakeholder audiences.

⇒ Create a brand/marketing/public relations strategy that will allow leadership to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with targeted, high-level external audiences, including the media, legislators, and other key influencers.

⇒ Identify challenges and emerging issues faced by the organization and the community.

⇒ Work with the board and staff to draft internal and external communications, opportunities and solutions, and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them.

⇒ Design and distribute various media pieces for event programs and fundraising activities.

⇒ Work with Chief of Staff and directors to maintain social media channels and report quarterly evaluations on media outreach.

⇒ Create newsletters, reports, and other communications to be delivered to constituents of the Housing Solutions Community.

DEVELOPMENT (40-50%)

⇒ Implement the Housing Solutions fund development plans in accordance with ethical fundraising principles under the direction of the Chief of Staff.

⇒ Manage business partnerships including prospecting, contracting, and fulfillment of mutual deliverables.

⇒ Develop and manage timelines for various fundraising activities to ensure strategic plans and critical fundraising processes are carried out in a timely manner.

⇒ Identify and develop corporate, community, and individual prospects for the organization’s fundraising priorities.

⇒ Provide data and other information related to grants and sponsorships to leadership.

⇒ Collaborate with internal teams to support marketing, fundraising, and events.

⇒ Assist with planning and coordinating logistics of significant events, and on occasion, large public meetings, and community engagement events.

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS

⇒ Strong administrative, organizational, verbal, and communication skills. Excellent collaboration skills are necessary.

⇒ At least three (2) years of paid work experience in development and/or communications.

⇒ Proficiency with common office software is required, particularly Microsoft 365 software (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). 

⇒ Familiarity with advanced software is not required but is preferred. Your level of experience should be noted in your résumé or cover letter if you are proficient in any of the systems used by Housing Solutions: Give Lively, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Mailchimp.

⇒ Past paid or non-paid work experience in nonprofits that engage significantly with the community is desired.

⇒ Must be comfortable working and building relationships with members of diverse communities.

⇒ Multilingualism is an asset.

⇒ While the position is primarily remote, a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the Tulsa area is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

⇒ Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field required

⇒ 2-3 years of experience in a similar communications role in a non-profit environment. Internships can count toward this requirement

⇒ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and ability to learn company-specific software applications

⇒ Bilingual (Spanish) a plus but not required

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Primarily in Tulsa, OK (74104) with opportunities for some remote work.
